Former Australian spy Dies: The World’s Toughest Row officials informed the world of Alisdair Putt’s death on Friday morning, January 5, 2024. Captain of the Australian Old Salts team. Alisdair experienced a probable cardiac episode on January 4th, 14:15 UTC. Despite his crew’s best attempts, resuscitation was unsuccessful.

During this difficult time, the 721 Challenge crew extends its heartfelt condolences to the Putt family, the Aussie Old Salts team, their families, friends, and fans.

The untimely passing of Alisdair Putt, who was captaining the Australian Old Salts team in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean as part of World’s Toughest Row 2023, shocked the rowing community. The rowers he spent that five days with on the Roxy Isle of Mull Adventure saw him as a genuine, devoted, funny, kind, and courteous guy when he joined in 2022.

Earlier this year, he and his WTR crew trained out of Burnham on Crouch, and the Rannoch squad had nothing but the utmost regard for this genuine Australian gentleman.

The safety staff for the Atlantic Campaign has alerted the Ace of Blades crew. They offer their sympathies and compassion to Alisdair’s family, friends, and teammates at this difficult and shocking time.
