Eastern Parkway Parade Shooting

Police in the vicinity of Melone Village in the City of Auburn, around 7:42 p.m. on Thursday, August 8, are investigating an officer-involved shooting, according to Sheriff Brian Schenck of the Cayuga County Sheriff’s Office, NY State Police, NY State Attorney General’s Office, and Cayuga County District Attorney’s Office. Facilitating the inquiry is the Auburn Police Department as well.

Jim Slayton, the chief of Auburn Police, did ask the aforementioned organizations for help with this investigation.

What Happened

The Auburn Police Department was approached by a person brandishing a firearm at the time of the incident. In fact, the person passed away as a result of the occurrence. The cops involved did not sustain any wounds.

The public is not in danger.
