Christopher Elvin, a sophomore University of Richmond student from Newark, New Jersey, has been identified as the victim of the accident that occurred on Thursday, March 21, at around 7:36 p.m.

What Happened Christopher Elvin

The University of Richmond’s Westhampton Lake prompted the Richmond and Henrico Fire Departments to react to a reported water rescue incident. An eyewitness reported that a subject had submerged and had not surfaced for around twenty minutes when rescuers got on the scene.

Firefighters from Richmond and Henrico County then collaborated to launch boats into the sea as soon as possible in an effort to find the victim.

The victim was quickly located, and crews confirmed his death. It is unbelievably going to be missed, Christopher.

He was a remarkable individual who perfectly captured the essence of the Spidermonkeys. Every person he came into contact with was profoundly impacted by his unparalleled positive energy.

He gave the required energy on the field by dancing in the El Beeper circle, shaking hands differently before every game in the nationals, and always being the first to get down on the pull.

Everyone is devastated for his friends and family, who are going through a difficult time due to this unplanned death. Any information on her funeral has not yet been made public, so those who wish to participate in the celebration of life should get in touch with a close family member for more information.

On Friday, March 22, dozens of people gathered for a vigil in Christopher’s honor on the bridge in front of Tyler Haynes Commons at the University of Richmond. Please remember and pray for his family members.
