KOMO 4 Journalist Cindi Rinehart Obituary: After a brief fight with cancer, Cindi Rinehart, known to viewers as the “Queen of Soaps” on Northwest Afternoon, died quietly on Tuesday morning, January 2, 2024. From 1984 to 2008, she hosted Northwest Afternoon on KOMO 4 for 24 years.
According to her relatives, Cindi passed away at home in peace. We shall really miss her.
Cindi Rinehart, who hosted “Northwest Afternoon” on KOMO-4 from 1984 until 2008, is a familiar face to those who watched. She was a firecracker, an exceptional and extraordinarily gifted broadcaster, a straight shooting Seattle icon who spent almost three decades as a fixture in the NW Afternoons of KOMO TV viewers.
Patrick said on Twitter: “for many years here in Seattle, Cindi Rinehart was known as the “Queen of Soaps” and back in the 90’s I used to go on Northwest Afternoon and talk soaps with her. Most of the time because of KOMO TV 4 being an ABC affiliate, she would talk about ABC soaps however she would talk about soaps outside of the network mostly Y&R! She told me that she knew the Bell family, specfically Lee and also interviewed many of your Y&R counterparts I do remember her interviewing Patty Weaver, Jeanne Cooper and Quinn Redecker. She will be dearly missed.”
Cindi possessed a lovely soul. Her infectious smile and gentle spirit will live on in the memories of all. Her friends reported that she was the most gentle person they had ever met. She was a kind cousin, a devoted sister, a treasured daughter, and a close friend to many. Her laugh lit up places, and even the gloomiest of days were brightened by her presence.
