Columbia NY: Today Wednesday, October 11, the news became public that Columbia University student Giovanna Canonici passed away. The news was made public by Columbia College Dean, Josef Sorett, who announced in an email to the community on Wednesday.
Giovanna is a well-known student and sophomore at The Barnard College, Columbia University, in New York.

Giovanna reportedly committed what is believed to be suicide, according to many publications that have been written about her death.
According to Columbia Daily Spectator, an independent student newspaper serving Columbia University and the MoHi/West Harlem communities since 1877 on twitter said: “Giovanna Canonici, a sophomore at Columbia College, has died, Columbia College Dean Josef Sorett announced in an email to the community on Wednesday.
Giovanna will be missed dearly, “She hoped to use science to improve humanity,” according to Columbia College Dean Josef Sorett.
This is a sad news for everyone who knew and was close to her. She was a very lovely person. She will be missed by all. Please say a prayer for her family as they would be going through a lot at this trying time.
