Desoto High School

DeSoto Police got an anonymous online report this morning regarding a potential firearm-wielding student at the high school.

Tiff Ani said on Facebook: Just talked to my son and niece, DeSoto high school is currently on lockdown. Apparently somebody brought a gun to the school and officers were able to identify who it was. Nobody is able to leave or enter the school right now

A temporary lockdown was implemented at the school, and more police officers were dispatched to the high school. The teenager in question was promptly identified by the police as being off campus and no longer enrolled in the high school.

The neighborhood is no longer under lockdown, but police were still present out of caution.

After making contact with the former student’s guardian, DeSoto Police were able to hold the sixteen-year-old youngster as of 11:10 a.m.

Neither the public nor the pupils are in immediate danger. DeSoto officers would like to express gratitude to DeSoto ISD for cooperating with officers to swiftly handle the issue.
