East Longmeadow Car Accident

Longmeadow Car Accident: The Hampden Fire Department was called to a school bus fire on Bayberry Road near Somers Road on Friday at around 3:14 p.m. Within four minutes of arriving, Engine 1 reported that a school bus was fully involved in flames.

What Happened

It was determined following many investigations that there had been no student injuries or fatalities. Further research is still underway, thus the cause of the fire has not yet been made public.

According to the Hampden Fire Department, the school bus driver safely removed all the kids from the bus before the bus was consumed with fire.

Concurrent with E-1, Action EMS arrived on the site and assisted in making sure all the children had safely left. With two hand lines swiftly deployed, the E-1 crew put out the majority of the fire.

The engine-wielding East Longmeadow Fire Department arrived and assisted with the overhaul. Additional water was delivered by the Hampden Fire Department’s Tanker 1, and personnel were supplied by their Rescue 1. Red’s towing took the bus when the fire was completely put out.
