Edmonton Oilers James Hamblin Mother Death: James Hamblin scores his first-ever goal in the National Hockey League! One to Keep in Mind. Unassisted, in memory of his mother, who died in 2017 from cancer-related complications. She fought pancreatic cancer, which later moved to her colon. After Gina’s death, James and his sister Paulina, as well as their father Tim, became closer. Yesterday, the father and son spoke on the phone for a short while, but it was quite emotional as James informed his father that he was being summoned back to the Edmonton Oilers.

When James Hamblin said farewell to his mother Gina, he was eighteen years old. A few days after Hamblin departed for Boston to attend the Bruins rookie camp, Gina passed away.

James celebrated his goal by raising his hands to the skies in memory of his beautiful mother. He was her greatest inspiration, and he gives her the most credit for enabling him to follow his current career.

He had to earn everything; nothing was ever given to him. He was never drafted in the NHL, although having some pedigree from being selected in the WHL’s first round. He went on and played for three seasons with the Bakersfield Condors of the AHL after spending five fantastic years with the Medicine Hat Tigers of the WHL. With his NHL debut, he appeared to have received a reward for his hard work!

James Hamblin, an SSAC product, is set to make his NHL debut. His family was Oilers fans. “My top four players are Ryan Smyth, Ales Hemsky, Taylor Hall, and Jan Niinimaa. Telling my dad I was coming up was a very emotional phone call. — Hamblin.
