Gray Cassidy

After conducting an investigation into the deadly car accident that happened on the 500 Block of County Road 103 on August 18, 2024, at around 11:39 a.m., the Lafayette County Sheriff’s Office issued a statement on Monday, August 19.

According to a first responder, the accident most likely occurred overnight.

The Lafayette County Sheriff’s Office is currently looking into what caused the accident.

As of right now, no additional information is available.

What Happened To Gray Cassidy

On August 18, the event was reported by a 911 call, and the Lafayette County Sheriff’s Department was called to the scene. When they got there, they discovered a car on a private property upside down in a pond.

The car was successfully recovered from the pond thanks to the efforts of the Lafayette County Fire Department and Shivers Towing Service Limited. Lafayette County Coroner Glenn Coleman pronounced the driver, Gray Cassidy, 19, of Oxford, Mississippi, dead at the scene.

Additionally present were units from the Baptist Ambulance Service, Lafayette County Fire Department, Lafayette County Sheriff’s Office, and Oxford Fire Department.

Biography

Gray Cassidy spent a long time serving on the Oxford NWTF youth committee. Many enjoyed witnessing him mature over the years. His enthusiasm for all things hunting and his love of the great outdoors were highly infectious. What a wonderful young man he was.

Georgia Dulaney expressed her emotions on Facebook upon the news that Gray Cassidy had passed away: “A good one. One of the nicest people I’ve ever met. A true southern gentleman. My heart is just absolutely broken. It doesn’t feel real. Prayers for Gray’s whole family.”

Friends are extending their sincere condolences and prayers to his mother, brothers, and father, Jim Cassidy Jr. Throughout this period, never stop thinking about them.
