The famed “Urban Voltaire,” Jack McLean, a former Herald writer, passed away on Wednesday morning, December 27, 2023, in Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Glasgow.
He had been sick for some time and had studiously and usually disregarded medical advice, even after suffering from a heart attack and other maladies.
The loss of Jack has saddened friends and family. Jack was the most hilarious, considerate, giving, and lovely neighbor one could hope to have.

He gained many friends over the years, was liked by everyone who knew him, and his loss will surely be felt by a large number of people. He is a hero, and we shall miss him greatly.
