On Thursday afternoon, August 1, 2024, a suspect was taken into custody during a gunfight with law enforcement at the Lower East Side, a historic district in southeast Manhattan.

According to the gunshot report, two officers were hurt and were sent to Bellevue Hospital; although it was unclear what was wrong with them right away, they were thought to be OK.
