Luke Oliveira, 22, of Newnan, passed away from wounds at Grady Hospital on Monday morning, March 4, 2024, shortly after six. The Coweta County Coroner’s office has confirmed that Luke is the man who was shot and killed on Sunday night, March 3. The incident happened after an argument.
The investigation suggests that the victim and the perpetrator were at the restaurant together prior to the shooting. It is thought that the two guys got into a physical struggle after a verbal argument that led to the shooting.
The Hooters restaurant on 1001 Bullsboro Drive is where the shooting took place in the parking lot. When the police came, they discovered Luke suffering from a gunshot wound in the parking lot.
While Coweta County Fire Rescue and the Newnan Fire Department assisted Luke, officers guarded the crime site.
After being sent to a hospital in the Atlanta region, he passed away just after 6:00 a.m. from his wounds.
Another Jacob Lee Vandiver, 28, of Fayetteville, Georgia, was discovered by the police at the scene, and they were able to apprehend him for extra investigation. He has since been taken into custody and brought to the Newnan Police Department. The arrested Jacob was taken to the Coweta County Jail a few hours later, where they are currently going through the booking procedure.
He faces charges of homicide, aggravated assault, and possession of a firearm while committing a felony.
