Mark Bradstock Obituary - Passed Away

Mark Bradstock Obituary – Passed Away: Family relatives report that trainer Mark Bradstock, who won the Cheltenham Gold Cup, tragically passed suddenly on Friday, March 1, 2024, at the age of 66 following a protracted illness.

Who Is Mark Bradstock

Mark was an excellent trainer and a wonderful man. He was a genuine gentleman who would constantly have those around him laughing. He also had a constant smile.

Together with Nico De Boinville, he and Coneygree won the 2015 Cheltenham Gold Cup. He prepared Coneygree to win the Gold Cup, making her the first Novice to do so in for almost 40 years. An extremely difficult task to achieve.

It takes great “balls” to do what Mark accomplished with Coneygree—winning the Gold Cup as a Novice. Kudos to him for pulling off such an amazing feat. It was a significant victory that we will never forget.

Many Gold Cup winners would have prevailed in the race if numerous other persons had trained them.

Everyone said that Coneygree shouldn’t have run as a beginner, therefore almost no one other than the Bradstocks would have prevailed with him.

“The sensational training performance Mark Bradstock and his team pulled off with CONEYGREE is exactly what we need to keep believing is possible in NH racing and why I am so desperate to see Nico and SHISHKIN come up the front and give it a go come March 15th”

Mark didn’t hesitate to take a chance on a newbie, and it worked out well. It was an amazing training display, and what a lovely horse he was to win it.

His passion for racing was unmatched. We shall mournfully miss him. We are thinking of the Bradstock family.
