Wednesday, March 13, at around 7:28 p.m., we learned from a family source that Sycamore’s 52-year-old athletic director, Mark Harden, had passed tragically from injuries he had received in a fatal car accident on I-75 in Sharonville, close to I-275. Interstate 75 South was closed for several hours following the horrific incident. The was reopened a few hours later after the necessary safety measures were made.

The eulogy Sycamore Community Schools issued to his friends, classmates, and family members has confirmed the news.

“On behalf of the entire Sycamore Community Schools family, we want to extend our deepest sympathies to the Harden family, staff, students, coaches, and families,”

On Thursday, March 14, the high school will not be in session; instead, counselors will be entering via the doors.

To everyone he encountered, Mark radiated warmth, friendliness, and sincere concern, as everyone who knew him would attest. For everyone he loved, he was one of the greatest moments of their life. For his community and the whole Sycamore Community Schools, this loss is indescribable.

His loved ones complimented him for being a man of integrity and passion who followed his vocation with unwavering determination and genuine concern for others.
