Breaking news: Naples High School is currently conducting an active investigation. The Collier County Sheriff’s Office and Naples Police are on site. Golden Gate Parkway westbound traffic is obstructed and is being rerouted onto Goodlette Road to the north or south.
Heading east On US 41, traffic from the Golden Gate Parkway is being rerouted either north or south. Please look for other routes.

It has been established that the call claiming to have witnessed a shooting at Naples High School this afternoon is a hoax.
The Naples Police Department’s dispatchers received a call on the administrative line at 1:38 p.m. today reporting that there had been a shooting at Naples High School. Following an immediate response from the NPD and CCSO, Collier County Public Schools locked down the building.
After thoroughly searching the campus, law enforcement personnel from both agencies concluded that there had been no shooting and that everyone was safe.
Currently, the campus is clear, and cops and deputies are helping to lift the lockdown.
Students will be picked up by parents who are currently arriving for dismissal in front of the school in the Golden Gate Parkway’s westbound lanes, which have been blocked to through traffic.
As is customary, student drivers will be released.
