Patrick Jeffrey Roers and Shellby Marie Trettel: The Deer River Man who was shot and murdered in the Cloquet Shooting was identified by the Cloquet Police Department on Wednesday, January 10. Also made public were the identities of individuals engaged in the Monday, January 8 shooting at the Super 8 Motel.

“On behalf of the Cloquet Police Department, we extend our heartfelt sympathy to the families and friends affected by the tragic incident,” the CPD news release stated. “We share in the community’s sorrow and offer our support to all those affected by this profound loss.

Nicholas Elliot Lenius, 32, of Ramsey, Minnesota, has been named as the culprit in Friday night’s shooting. He appeared to have self-inflicted a gunshot wound when he was found dead.

Shellby Marie Trettel of Cloquet was identified as the 22-year-old hotel clerk. After being taken by ambulance to St. Luke’s Hospital in Duluth, she passed away from her wounds there.

Patrick Jeffrey Roers, 35, of Deer River, Minnesota, was identified as the victim who was discovered inside a car in the motel parking lot.
