Nicole Van Gundy Death: Sheriff Matthew O. Hafey reports that on February 15, 2024, at 11:29 a.m., deputies arrived at an accident site to discover a flaming semi-truck that had overturned after colliding with a pole. They also found a blue Peterbilt semitruck from 2019 inside a gray Hyundai from 2022.
What Happened To Nicole Van Gundy
The driver of the Peterbilt was Paul J. Marks, a 52-year-old resident of Millersport, Ohio. Nicole A. Van Gundy, 40, of Orient, Ohio, was operating the Hyundai when she was declared deceased at the scene by Sterling Joint EMS. Paul Marks had non-life-threatening injuries and was taken by Sterling Joint EMS to Grant Medical Center.
Deputies discovered during their investigation that the Hyundai had passed through the intersection at Five Points Pike in Darby Township and that the Peterbilt had struck it in the southbound lane of travel while going south on US Route 62.
Additionally, an 8-year-old passenger in the Hyundai was taken by Sterling Joint EMS to Nationwide Children’s Hospital due to non-life-threatening injuries.
The Pickaway County Sheriff’s Office is still looking into this collision.
