On Sunday, December 3, 2023, Myles Goodwin, a songwriter at April Wine, Friends of the Blues, and Just Between You and Me LIVE, passed away after a protracted illness. He was born in 1947. His publicist confirmed his passing.

The Canadian music scene is mourning his loss deeply. Myles’ friends and admirers from all over the world and in Canada expressed their sorrow on social media after word spread that he had passed away.

“The Streetheart family wish to convey our sincere condolences to Myles’ family and loved ones at this difficult time.”

Myles was unquestionably one of the most popular singer-songwriters in Canada during his era, and both his music and his collaboration with April Wine will always be significant components of the national and global music landscapes.

As the lead singer of the Canadian rock group April Wine, he became well-known. Along with publishing solo pieces, Goodwyn penned a book detailing his illustrious career.

With Top 5 hits like “You Could Have Been a Lady,” “Tonite is a Wonderful Time to Fall in Love,” and “The Whole World’s Goin’ Crazy,” April Wine’s greatest success occurred in their home country of Canada in the early to mid-1970s. However, the band also had some success in the United States. “Just Between You and Me,” “Roller,” and “You Could Have Been a Lady” all went on to become Billboard Hot 100 Top 40 hits. On the US Rock Chart, their single achieved the highest chart position. In 1982, “Enough Is Enough” made it into the Top 10.

Among the honors were the SOCAN National Achievement Award, an East Coast Music Lifetime Achievement Award, a star on the Canadian Walk of Fame, and induction into the Canadian Songwriters Hall of Fame.

As they navigate this trying time, kindly remember and pray for his family.
