A Massachusetts woman, Jessica Cavallaro, 24, was arrested Thursday, June 6, on charges that she shot two people believed to be her parents, one of whom died and the other was transported to the hospital, according to a county district attorney.
Bedford police discovered the parents in a car with gunshot wounds after Cavallaro entered a home and told another resident that she had just killed her parents.
Her 56-year-old mother died on the scene, while her father, also 56, is in critical condition.
The double shooting occurred on Washington Street in Bedford.
Jessica was arrested in Bedford on charges of murder, assault and battery, and unlawful possession of a weapon, Middlesex District Attorney Marian Ryan announced at a news conference.
The man, also 56, had life-threatening injuries and was taken to a hospital.
Ryan said the woman was scheduled to appear in district court in Concord on Thursday afternoon. It was not immediately clear whether she had an attorney who could speak on her behalf.
A firearm was recovered from the scene.
