Official update about the shooting in Sunbury: In a parking lot across the street from the Northumberland County Courthouse on Thursday, one of the defendants in the attempted homicide trial, which started on Thursday, claimed to have witnessed a man point a gun in his direction before shooting and killing another man.

The culprit is still on the loose.

At around 2:00 p.m., Sunbury Police were called to 147 Market Street in Sunbury, Pennsylvania in reference to a gunshot victim.

Within minutes of the shooting, Sunbury Police discovered a man victim who looked to have had a single gunshot wound to the chest. At 1:15 p.m. that same day, the male victim did indeed pass away from his wounds and was declared dead.

An autopsy has been conducted and he has been identified.

The Sunbury Police Department is currently conducting this inquiry. More information will be released by Sunbury Police as it becomes available.
