Callie Brunett

On June 14, an update was made public on Friday morning. Victoria Cox, the woman who was a police accomplice at a motel, is being held. She may have had something to do with the deaths of Callie Brunett, 35, and Erin, her 4-year-old daughter.

In a press conference held yesterday, Jackson Police Chief Joseph Wade announced that two young girls named Callie were the subject of an Amber Alert that was sent out on June 13. According to Chief Jimmy Travis of the Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff’s Office, the alert was sent out after Brunett’s two children went missing and her body was discovered in her Loranger home.

Who Is Daniel Callihan

Daniel Callihan, age 36, is being held. He was detained, per the police, for allegedly “committing brutal and heinous acts of violence” in the murders of 35 year old Callie Brunett and her 4 year old daughter, Erin.

He was located Callihan in Jackson, Mississippi, located two hours from Tangipahoa, in a wooded area behind a house, and “after a short pursuit”.

It was confirmed. Jackson police officers searched the area where he was found and they “located a deceased child in the woods.” That child was later identified as 4 year old Erin, Callie’s daughter.

The cause of Erin’s passing is still being investigated. Six-year-old Jalie, Erin’s sister, was also found and “taken to the hospital to receive treatment” for her wounds.

According to police, they still don’t know why the alleged kidnapping and murders occurred. Interviews with Callihan and the young girl who was discovered alive are their next course of action.

During the press conference, the Jackson Police Department asked anyone with information about the case to come forward and call (601) 960-1234, the department’s number.
