His death is sudden and shocking to all of his friends, fans and famiy members.

The cause of death for Mayor Reid hasn’t been made public yet, as the news of is passing is still developing. Probably he passed away from a natural cause because no preliminary news disclosed if he had been suffering from an illness.

Mayor Reid was a faithful public servant of the City of Gastonia, and a retired member of the fire service. May God bring comfort to his family and friends during this difficult time.”
Biography
Gastonia, North Carolina, is Mayor Reid’s hometown. After completing his studies at Gaston College in Fire Science Technology, he went on to Hunter Huss High School.
In addition to being a trailblazer, he was also a kind leader who had a genuine love for his community, its citizens, visitors, and those who would soon be starting over. Having served in public office for almost thirty years, he was the first elected African American mayor of the City of Gastonia.
As Gastonia’s mayor, Walker was chosen for a two-year term in 2017 and then again in 2019 for a four-year term. He was also a former assistant fire marshal for Mecklenburg County, a former fire service instructor at Gaston College, and a 22-year member of the City Council. He also held the office of mayor pro tem.
He was a dedicated public servant who spent his entire life working to make Gastonia better. We will sincerely miss his leadership, wisdom, and unwavering devotion to the community. His influence will never stop inspiring anyone who had the chance to interact with him.
