Former Dallas Cowboys fullback, genuine rodeo cowboy, unique legend, and spokesman for Cowboys worldwide Walt Garrison, who was 79 years old, passed away. Walt passed away while residing at a facility for people with memory loss not far from Weatherford, Texas.
Walt Garrison, who was born on June 23, 1944, passed away on October 10th. The news of Walt’s passing has upset many Lewisville veterans. He was a true cowboy.
Walt was a Cowboys fan favorite. He was a Lewisville Fighting Farmer and Dallas Cowboy legend. He was selected in the fifth round of the 1966 NFL Draft out of Oklahoma State.

I just read that Walt Garrison passed away. Many will know him as a Super Bowl champ with the Dallas Cowboys who famously received a horse trailer as part of his NFL signing bonus. For people in my community Walt Garrison was a legendary Lewisville High School Fighting Farmer. He liked to rodeo, chew tobacco and whittle wood. The picture below is from 2016 when I met Walt at his house. He‘s holding his dad’s leather helmet from LHS! He was so kind and gracious. RIP Mr. Garrison. Condolences to his family.

RIP Walt Garrison…July 1944 – October 2023…He was a great Cowboy, on the football field and in the roping arena! My Dad roped steers with him many times in Denton Co. His ranch was in Argyle and Mama and I used to run into him at breakfast…great human being! Rest easy #32 Cowboy
