UPDATE: The body of Reza Saloojee, the headboy of Johannesburg’s Greenside High School, age 18, has been discovered by police divers in the Vaal Dam. His body was discovered by police divers approximately 100 meters from the location where it was thought he drowned.
When the group of SAPS divers discovered the body on Tuesday, August 13, at around 4 p.m., his family was present.
His family and friends are in the prayers and minds of the community.
“For the passing of Reza Saloogee: Inna lillahi wa inna ilayhi raji’un. Al Fatiha. May Allah Most High forgive him, send mercy, light in his qabr and secure him the highest Jannah. And may Allah send relief to all his loved ones, struggling with Reza’s passing.”
What Happened To Reza Saloojee
On Sunday afternoon, August 11, 2024, the Greenside High School student was reportedly swept away by a powerful current while out fishing with his family.
We extend our sincere gratitude to the very skilled team of divers from the @SAPoliceService Water Wing who dedicated numerous hours to locate Reza Saloojee’s body.
The search squad consisted of water police and diving services from Sedibeng, Johannesburg, Tshwane, and Ekurhuleni. K9 units from Sedibeng and Ekurhuleni were also lending a hand in the search.
