Oxnard’s Emmy award winning talented artist Matt Urango aka Cola Boyy, the disabled disco innovator of “BOYY IN SPACE”, a collaborator, principled community organizer, the first disabled person to play Coachella has passed away. Cola died on Sunday, March 17, 2024. The news was confirmed through a post that was posted on Facebook by his father Joseph Urango on Sunday at approximately 20:35 p.m.

Throughout his life, Matthew followed his own set of rules. He performed all around the world in numerous nations. Everyone in the world is aware of his music. Cola led the charge for musical disability rights. He was an intense activist. His song was Lollapalooza. He wrote these upbeat disco love tunes specifically for Oxnard.

He had the melody of an ancient legend and the soul of a man without age. Every aspect of his music—lyrics, melodies, voice quality—was distinctive and ageless.

Matthew Urango identified as Afro-Latino and claimed heritage from the Chumash, African Americans, and Mexicans.

He referred to himself as the Disabled Disco Innovator, and his music served as a vehicle for his messages. He assisted in setting up concerts of freepunk rock for audiences of all ages.

He gave his town so much of himself that everyone is currently dealing with a terrible loss that no one should ever have to experience. Thoughts and prayers for his whole family in the days, weeks, and years ahead; never forget Cola.

This unexpected loss has left his fans, friends, and community groups in shock.
