Shooting In Santa Rosa, California: Today’s Shooting. At at 12:40 a.m. on Monday, March 4, there was a firefight and pursuit between a decoy and a suspect in Santa Rosa. The suspect crashed and died at the scene, leaving four deputies injured, one seriously.

Reporters from the Press Democrat were on the scene when they saw the car collide near Stony Point Road between Bellevue Avenue and Todd Road in west Santa Rosa.

What Happened In Santa Rosa

Responding to a person wielding a rifle, Sonoma County Sheriff deputies engaged in gunfire with the suspect in unincorporated west Santa Rosa.

The suspect took the deputies on a chase once they located him. The suspect halted the pursuit midway through, opened fire on the cops, and carried on. Following a retaliatory fire from the deputies, the suspect eventually crashed the car he was operating.

Four deputies were hurt: two had hand injuries, one had a head injury, and one had a gunshot wound to the leg. The health of the deputy who suffered a head injury is critical but stable. At the scene, the suspect was declared dead.

In compliance with State law, bodyworn camera footage will be made public. As of right now, the Sonoma Sheriff has provided us with all the information they have.
