Lyn Hejinian Poet Death: At 3:07 p.m. on Saturday, February 24, it got to the public that Poet Lyn Hejinian, born in 1941, the great American poet and a remarkably good, compassionate human being passed away at the age of 83. Her cause of death was natural.
The 1980 publication of her masterpiece “My Life” (which was reissued in 1987 with additional content) transformed the lives of numerous individuals; it is a poetic account that chronicles the passing of years.

Her poetry is more like a perfume in the way it begs for your attention than it is forceful. You wouldn’t want to imagine that another poet was able to open my eyes to language to the same extent that she did. She showed me that experimental work didn’t have to be as cerebral, influential, or dry as it could be; instead, it could be funny, emotional, and modest.

Among the most cherished poets and companions within the Language Poetry group was Lyn. Everyone who had the privilege of knowing her, read her exquisitely beautiful poems, and was fortunate enough to know her will always remember her.
